HENDERSONVILLE NC RATES

Hendersonville rates are regulated by the City of Hendersonville, NC.  (Sec. 54-44. Fares Prescribed of the Hendersonville Code of Ordinance)

Effective as of April 5, 2012. The city council has changed the rates for all taxi cabs under Sec. 54-44. The rates are now as followed:

No person shall fix or charge a greater or lesser rate of fare for taxicab service than the following:


 $3.00 for the initiation charge.

 $0.30 for each succeeding one-tenth mile or fraction thereof, after initiation. ($3.00 a mile) 

$0.60 for each minute of waiting time, or fraction thereof. ($36.00 an hour wait time)

(Wait time shall include the time when the taxicab is not in motion, beginning with the arrival at the place to which it has been called, or the time consumed while standing or waiting at the direction of the passenger; but, no charge shall be made for time lost for inefficiency or breakdown of the taxicab for the time consumed by premature response to a call.)

For each bag of Groceries $0.25

For each bag of luggage, of any kind whatsoever $0.50

For each trip that initiates or terminates beyond the city limits Initiation charge occurs at city limits line.......(Normal rates apply) 

The above rates apply for one or two passengers only, and any additional passengers shall be $1.00 extra.

Note: These rates Do Not apply to the For-Hire vehicles. (For-Hire vehicles are Not regulated by the city)

ASHEVILLE NC RATES

Asheville rates are regulated by the City of Asheville NC (Code 1965, §§ 27-8, 27-9, 27-11; Ord. No. 1661, 11-24-87; Ord. No. 2773, § 1, 11-28-00) Appendix F of the Asheville Code of Ordinance.

Within the City of Asheville, no person shall fix or charge a greater or lesser rate of fare for taxicab service than the following:

For the initiation (drop) of the meter ..... $2.50

For each one-tenth mile after initiation ..... 0.25

($2.50 a mile)

For each piece of luggage in excess of two average size traveling bags or their equivalent in size ..... 0.25

For each passenger in excess of two ..... 2.00

For each two minutes of waiting time or fraction thereof after the first two minutes ..... 0.40 ($12.00 an hour wait time)

(Wait time shall include the time when the taxicab is not in motion, beginning with the arrival at the place to which it has been called, or the time consumed while standing or waiting at the direction of the passenger; but, no charge shall be made for time lost for inefficiency or breakdown of the taxicab or for time consumed by premature response to a call.)

Notwithstanding the above listing, the total fare may include the following surcharge:

For each trip that initiates or terminates beyond a:

Three-mile radius from the center of downtown = meter plus $3.00

Five-mile radius from the center of downtown = meter plus $5.00

Eight-mile radius from the center of downtown = meter plus $8.00
